Using Twitter to Get the News

It’s hard for some people to fathom how a networking service that only lets you post 140-character blurbs could possibly have anything good to say about anything. However, we as human beings, are quite good at adapting and if you give us a 140-character limitation, we’ll find a way to make it work. Case in point: the news.

Lots of different news sources have flocked to Twitter and while full-length articles can’t quite fit into the word limit, that doesn’t stop anyone from posting links to where the actual news can be found. In many ways, Twitter and it’s tagging feature makes it easy for people to find the news they want without having to watch it on television.

If it’s interesting, Twitter’s probably talking about it. Even tech news. Like, for example, just to give you an idea: I’m sure many of you satellite internet customers who go to http://www.satelliteinternetspecials.net probably already knew this, but I had no idea Jupiter was more than just a planet. Long short of it is that it’s their new satellite scheduled to launch and completely turn the tide in the internet provider wars.

This is what I mean. You can find news on almost anything thanks to stuff like Twitter. You might even find the news the networks don’t consider newsworthy.
